On Grid Solar System

On Grid or Net Metering solar systems are the most common and widely used systems for industrial and residential purposes. Grid Tied systems do not use batteries and use solar inverters which are directly connected to electricity grid. If excess solar power generated, it is exported to the utility grid and owner usually get paid in tariff or credits for the power you export.

Working:

A consumer can take solar system capacity maximum as 80% of sanction load or contract demand. Under Net metering policy, Customers generate electricity from a Solar PV On Grid system installed on the roof of their building. The output of the panels (DC) is connected to the Solar inverter which converts DC power to AC power. The inverter output is connected to the control panel/ distribution box of the building to utilize the power. The inverter synchronizes with the grid to power the load with preference of consuming solar power first. The power generated in excess of the owners electricity consumption is fed into the grid through a bi directional energy meter capable of registering both import and export of electricity. Net metering allows households to generate electricity and set off the power produced against the power used from the grid and the consumer pays only for the NET ( difference of import and export)number of units used each month. If the customer produces excess power after usage in a particular month, the customer energy charge becomes zero and the remaining units are credited and carried forward to the following month. Under the net metering policy, rooftop solar power projects of capacity ranging from 1 kW to 1 MW can be installed.
